They take pretty good care of their lawns, houses, cars, fingernails, and RRSPs too.

I think the imminent and total destruction of the earth (according to the premil dispensationalist view) is just a convenient excuse for not doing what is really hard to do. Not caring for the earth follows from the premil dispensationalist package (of which the rapture is only a part and which relies on more Scripture than those verses in Thessalonians, as I'm sure Wright knows) in much the same way that lack of interest in evangelism follows from inclusivism; that is to say, not as a necessary logical consequence but because there is a handy rationalization available. Fortunately, some believe in taking care of the earth because it is from God and beautiful and real and because he told us to; and some believe in spreading the Good News for the same reasons.

Any of us who are not premil dispensationalists ought to be asking ourselves whether we are doing any better at caring for the earth.

'dualism' entails worshippng two opposite deities as equals; e.g. 'any moment rapturists' pouring money into institutional church/monument/cathedrals to function as worship art (to worship) in perpetuity (for centuries to come)

..is not the Left Behind mentality in thrall to a dualistic view of reality that allows people to pollute God's world on the grounds that it's all going to be destroyed soon?
