These were specific instructions regarding a specific ministry trip. Later, before Jesus even died, he gave them different instructions, teaching them to stay in Jerusalem. Jerusalem did not receive their message, yet they stayed there. (See Luke 22:35-36 for how Jesus made a transition in ministry instructions to his apostles.) Peace be with you.
