Responding to your questions posted below, Dave. Answer to point one: The urgings I have had from the Holy Spirit were imperatives. I was driven to share the Gospel with an individual here and there. I was driven to start a home church. I was driven to teach the truth concerning divorce, even though I knew that those teachings would be rejected by the Baptists that I was teaching at the time. These are not every day occurances that keep me pumped up for Christ. I equate feelings more to a feel good type of thing. Probably it is just my particular way of defining that you find odd, and you are probably correct to say that this seems peculiar to you. I do not feel Jesus on TT, on TV, or any other T. On the other hand I see evidence of His handiwork in the complexity of nature, in a row of corn sprouting or in the pattern on a buitterfly wing or the bark on a tree or in the miracle of giving birth. The Bible explains the things of the past and the future. Nature shows me that God is alive and well today. Christ is in me and I am in Him, yet I cannot say that the tingling in my right arm is Christ and the charley horse in my left leg is me. I cannot seperate Jesus and me, and that is a very good thing. Answer to point two: I am not interested in fairy tales. My faith does require evidence. The more, the better. If it all adds up (Prophecy, then prophecy fulfilled, miracles with witnesses, etc.) , I will believe. If some guy walks up to me on the street and claims to be the Christ, I am going to want him to prove it. Billy Graham once said that on any given day in southern California, there were at least four hundred people claiming to be Christ. Last week, the FSU quarterback made the same claim. I don't think so. I want proof. Hope that you can understand what I am trying to convey. Terry Dave Hansen wrote: DAVEH: From my LDS perspective, you answer is peculiar, Terry. Do you not equate what you describe as urgings of the HS to feelings? |
