NOTHING NEW Youll Be Joining Me Soon In the early 1900s, evangelist Mordecai Ham used various methods to get the gospel message to unlikely places. On several occasions the evangelist borrowed an old, horse-drawn hearse in which he would stretch an illuminated skeleton so that it could be seen plainly through the side windows. A loud speaker system, with an announcer hidden inside, would dramatically arrest the attention of onlookers. In one of his Houston, Texas meetings, Mr. Hams parade numbered 2,200 cars. I watched the effect upon the sidewalk crowd as the hearse passed, he recounts.
A bunch came out of a tavern to see the sight, and the first object to strike them was our hearse and skeleton; then they heard it talk, Boys, once I had a big time too, but look where I am now. Youll be joining me soon; better get right with God. Some of them were frozen in their tracks and slapped their hands to their heads crying, Oh, my God! I noticed that they didnt go back into the tavern to finish their drinks.

This is how I received your short answer JD. What have you been messing with? Can you resend without the lines?I say preachers without an anointing are all wasting their time. We were in Bath N.C. the other day and visitedthe first Church built in that State in 1734. The pastor's name was Garcia and in the video at the Visitor's Center he is quoted as having said that whenever he preached about sin his parishoners came down hard on him. At the Church itself there was a short history in which Garcia is said to have been from Spain and spoke little or no English. So who knows what the parishoners were hearing - so much for the truth of history :) - An interesting aside was Whitfield's visits to Bath and folklore says he was not received one time and cursed it to remain forever a small town. Our guide believes he fulfilled a scripture in Matt by shaking the dust from his feet and he did visit Bath more than once. He is said to have travelled with his casket in tow. Hey Kevin - do any of you street preachers do this? :)Linda -- you are kidding, of course !!!??? Let's just say that you and I completely agree of the term "lost." And kevin even agrees. Your question below implies a blatant uncaring about those of the "lost" that did not respond to the Message. Our preaching of the Gospel should never offer those who reject that message good reason to walk away. Those , whether SP or evangelist - who belittle and humiliate and make fun -- are giving reasons OTHER THAN THE HEARING OF THE "TRUTH" TO WALK AWAY. I have proven, beyond any shadow of doubt, perhaps to a scientific certainty *whatever that is) that people who are belittled and insulted will close their minds to any other consideration. Itmay not be their only reasoning for rejection -- but their bias will most definitely be effected by such negativism. When did I do this? RIGHT HERE IN GOTHAM CITY, folks !!!! Being the converted red-neck that I am, I watched for months while my "liberal" friends -- people who were actually giving me something to think and pray about -- while my "liberal friends" here on TT were insulted and humiliated and judged with nearly every post form some -- you know, back in the glory days when we did such things on TrashTalk USA. And I thought to myself -- what is Lance's, Deb's, Bill's problem. As a red-neck - an educated Okie - pos sessed the best of both worlds -----the ability to understand and be excited about conceptual considerations AND the creativity, sarcasm and fight of an everyday run of the mill Okie, I saw no point in "accepting" those insults and judgments. The "peace thing," like you and kevin, I have a hard time with that -- a "liberal cornerstone." In my old nature, fighting regardless of the forum is kinda fun. Me and Easu, the bean eater, would have probably been pals...... I would not have liked Samson, except for his luggage, of course. David the King -- would have been one of my heros as well. Anyway - so this self described Okie decided to join the fray. "I can do sa rcasm -- kevin and linda just think they can." Such was my attitude and decision. But it became the central theme of nearly everything I wrote. And the fun of it all slipped away..... "growth" is to blame, I hope. Anyway, there are many things that separate kev, you, Judy, DaM - and myself, I do not need to supply you all with additional good reason to walk away BUT I DID THIS VERY THING. I have angered all of you simply because of my decision to fight back -- not to sit around and watch as you guys had all the fun. To what avail? Who knows -- maybe to give you answer today. You know how it feels, linda - to be ojn the short end of the stick. ..... and you do not like it one little bit. Ditto for all those "we" give reason to walk away. PROOF BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT that the popular response is to be angered and walk way form meaningful discussion.Tha's my short answer.JD
