I hope that you allow that some of us have a different perspective on this
point. Some here tout Joseph Smith while others tout Barth and Torrance.
I speak of personal motivation and, no, I do not allow a difference of opinion on
this issue. I have been led by the Spirit into this statement and cannot, therefore,
be wrong. JS was a man and his teaching did not come from God (so we believe). BUT,
well over 140 years later, those who have presented themselves here on this forum seem
to believe that his teachings are tied to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the center of their
faith -- or so they have said. I see their error on who Christ is to be no more
burdensome than what I see as error in your teaching or Judy's on the same subject.
No one on this site honor Barth or Torrance in the same way as the Mormons do JS --
but you know this.

Is there a difference in your perspective between understanding truth and
using language to articulate truth? All might be approximating truth when
we attempt to communicate truth to others, but not all are approximating
truth in regards to their understanding of truth. Such a perspective would
describe those talked about in Scripture as "ever learning, and never able
to come to the knowledge of the truth."
The scripture DM refers to is II Tim 3:7 -- a passage of scripture that does not
apply to this discussion, unless, of course, your do not care about immediate context
and you are a silly woman, moved by lust, ever learning and never knowing.

Unity is based in our commitment to be conformed and transformed into the
image of Christ. Lots of people search for truth. I have worked with all
kinds of wicked people who were all searching for truth in the university.
To have a unity based upon a mutual search for truth is not even close to
the kind of unity that comes through the spirit when men and women submit
themselves unto the Lordship of Christ. I agree with the wording of the above.

Peace be with you.
