I am not putting myself up as the ultimate authority. This is yet another ad hominem retort on your part. Dictionaries have a big job of defining many words. The purpose of a dictionary is to help people understand the meaning of words, and they usually try and do that in a very terse and concise way. Therefore, dictionaries fall short when it comes to giving us a full understanding of words that are used in narrower fields of study like logic, philosophy, etc. It would be better for you to consult a textbook in logic than reading Webster's dictionary on the word "tautology." Please note that the reason I took time to look up some links for you was because I was not putting myself forward as an authority to you. I was simply trying to show you how to go beyond the dictionary. At the very least, consult an encyclopedia! Peace be with you.
