Interesting; I've never heard that idea. Something to ponder. It seems
that everyone believes we are called from "without" when we are convicted
about being saved. However, when I think back it seemed that my calling was
from "within". At about age 12 I had such a yearning hunger to know God,
and I could not figure out where to go with it. No one I knew could tell me
what to do about it. It was many years later before I encountered someone
who told me about being born again, and many years after that that I even
began to learn the basics about how to live for God. But that hunger, I am
sure, did not come from anyone or anything outside of myself. So was it the
Holy Spirit or my conscience? And don't they both speak to you from within?

Yes, I acknowledge this work of the Holy Spirit, but this does not deny the
existence of the conscience. It is actually the conscience which gives the
Holy Spirit entrance and a way to work in our lives.
The thing about the conscience is that it speaks even to those who have not
experienced this work of the Holy Spirit you have just described. It speaks
even to those who do not believe.
Peace be with you.
