DAVEH: Before you two start slinging muck at each other, may I suggest that you are both right on this. As John pointed out, his daughters usage of the term was not meant to be anything but endearing, in an adolescent way. (And anybody who has teenage daughters that are less than angels would probably understand how that works.) From what I've read of the exchanges, that's the way I understood John to use the term.

From DavidM's perspective, it seemed much more of a personal slight....I think due to the nature of email exchanges lacking the nuances that personal communications usually offer....such as body language and tonal inflections.........that make subtle differences in the way we convey and perceive things.

So........may I offer a simple solution to you two brethren? How about acknowledging the communication problem as being a shared failure, and then proceed forward endeavoring to be more relaxed and flexible in the future? Such works for me....will it work for you?

Now.....go to this site below and notice that there are several definitions that may be applicable.

BTW DavidM....If your dictionary only offers the below definition, you may want to opt for the above Websters online. Can't trust MS to even get an OS right, let alone a dictionary, you know! :-)

BTW JD......If I may offer a little unsolicited advice to the Pastor of TT......if you are going to walk close to the edge of a cesspool, at least put a little smilie on your face so that even if we smell the stench of your prose, we'll know you enjoyed falling into the pool! :-D

Perhaps you would be interested in how my dictionary defines the word. It seems to me that you meant it in this way.

    poop [poop]
    (plural poops)
    noun

an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody's intelligence or competence (slang insult) [Early 20th century. Origin uncertain: perhaps a shortening of nincompoop .] Microsoft® Encarta® Reference Library 2005. © 1993-2004 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
