Not unique today perhaps (you would have to ask David M.) -- but very much so two thousand years ago.

DAVEH:   At the risk of stirring the dieing ashes, I'm now wondering what you folks think about artificial insemination.  Can a virgin be artificially inseminated and have a virgin birth?  If so, then a virgin birth may not be such a unique event.

BTW......I'm not trying to stir up more controversy....I'm merely curious.  These discussions have certainly got me thinking out of the box.....

C. Perry writes  >  Bill, what constitutes a loss of virginity, "knowing" a man, or having a baby? I surmise the former. (Since this is a one-time event, we certainly have no precedence!)

Perry,

I certainly agree with you concerning the lack of precedence. Mary conceived without having "known" a man. She was a virgin; something happened to her, which had never happened before.
