This verse connects for two reasons, 1) spiritually because its spirit is equal to its verbal task, its persuasive-ness is its integrity; e.g., (its) persuasive-ness is not rooted in a unilateral religious sounding salvo fired from a legalists cannon camoflaged in 'grace'--the shots heard 'round the world, that everyone targeted hates because of the/ir the power to kill; 2) and, no translator of a historic, recognized valid Bible translation has altered the meaning of this verse; hundreds of years after its initial utterance these words (have always) express/ed exactly what the author/s mean/t to say--it rings true no matter who hears it (e.g., read or quoted)
FTR, DaveH--this is a verse I've been thinking about lately, age-ing and mature-ing in Christ--can you dig it? :)
It has nothing to do with truth and untruth nor evil versus righteousness. These translations are the individual conclusions of honest people (for the most part) trying to present to us a biblical message that is close to the original wording of the First Century and Hebrew writers.
