Perfect example, Lance.  If Jesus is not Lord over our tongue, what else matters?  Our words should be governed by His words.  That means we will only speak words that are His Truths.  I like speaking in agreement with His Word! Do you have any suggestions for how we might be more faithful in that endeavor? Iz

I’m changing the Subject line to The Tongue.

How about the dreaded tongue?

That is a very good beginning!!!  What is He Lord of in your life? Is there any area where He is not Lord in our lives? iz

Perhaps we should gather around that upon which we do agree, even on the most elementary levels.  iz

True Iz

But one must begin somewhere, so how about we agree at a surface level; we are not even there yet

and won't be so long as we have so many other 'mediators'.

I can agree with you that much, Lance, as there are ever-deeper meanings in scripture than we have yet scratched the surface of.  (How’s that for a dangling participle?)  I think we will spend eternity discovering those deeper meanings and will forever praise God for the miracles of His Word! iz

There most assuredly is. David Miller, Bill Taylor and John Smithson however, have demonstrated on numerous occasions, that it is NOT ALWAYS YOURS! To ward off yet another charge of blasphemy by David, I'll simply say that ALL INTERPRETATIONS OF SCRIPTURE ARE NEITHER EXHAUSTIVE NOR INFALLIBLE. That then, would include your interpretation(s) of Scripture would it not?

Meaning that everyone has their own Jesus and there is no standard of Truth?

The definitive answer to your query concerning 'your own Jesus' is...well...YES.
