I did not miss it's spirit. I agree with that and see no reason to respond to it. It stands fine on its own. We all need to be provoked to love one another more fervently. The idea, however, that the law has been done away does not agree with all of Scripture. The idea that the law allows one to hate their enemies seems problematic to me. Maybe he means that the law is not strong enough in condemning the hatred of enemies? I'm just asking for clarification. Do you know anywhere that the law allows one to hate their enemies? I think the law preaches love just as Jesus did. Both the commands to love God and love your neighbor are found in the Torah. These are the two greatest commandments of Torah, and all of Torah hinges upon these two commandments according to Jesus. All the so-called ceremonial laws also hinge on these two commandments.
