The representation of product dimensions, as required in the fashion (retail) industry, is not uniform across the ERP systems: Some (smaller ERP mostly) have a separate material number with the attributes encoded to it, others use a matrix structure (2 or three dimensional) behind a unique material number. Material attributes encoded in the material number is IMHO a pain in the neck, just imagine that you have to create a new sales line item per material-color- size.
