Indeed it will create a purchase request for each line and then you can choose
to group the purchase or not etc.

If it is your supplier that does the shipment, you must not have a shipment
(or at least any kind of those we get now). But the "in-development" module
will define a new kind of shipment ("drop shipment") which will do the job of
tracking the state of the supplier/customer shipment.
By "in-development", I mean only in my head for now.
