For those interested, I've tried installing version 2.2.1 onto a Mac Lion (10.7.2) machine that had python 2.7 installed. This didn't work (for me). If I installed python 2.6 instead it does work, so you'll likely want to use 2.6. Also...if you try and install py26-setuptools, you may get a message saying the package doesn't exist (anymore). You can use the py26-distribute instead, which effectively replaced the older 'setuptools'. Hope this helps!
