Yes the module is wrong because it breaks some assumptions of Tryton
which are:

    - lot of the same product are equivalent. This means you can change
      one lot by another, it will not hurt your business flow.
    - lot has no constraint at all because it is a tagging system. (It
      is probably possible to add some constraints in custom modules)

So this show clearly that assigning a lot at the sale is not a correct
workflow. Indeed if for you the lot of the same product are not
equivalent, then you must create different products (could use the same
template).
