This is not yet a success story, but I think it will be. As you know, the
small business where I work has been in crisis for some time. So much, that
I haven't been able to do anything with Tryton. However, I just managed to
get some time for this and installed version 4.0 along with zikzakmedia's
POS module (I made it work!!!!! YAY). I have been using something else for
the POS, and never had the chance to connect it with the rest of the
processes in this shop. Now, I will do everything with Tryton, and,
hopefully, will have a success story next year. Apologies if this is not
what you wanted. I just thought that it could be useful.

There are many small businesses which cannot pay for equipment,
licenses or development of applications. We are one of those. Tryton is the
only chance that we have to seriously address the accounting (stock, sales,
purchases and assets) and POS requirements that we have in an ERP.

Background

There are many ERP applications out there, but none of them were useful
for us. Tryton is written in Python. Its structure is simple enough for
beginner programmers to understand how it works under the hood and
customise as needed. There is a very strong community which is really
focused on the concepts of free software and sharing. It is a framework to
manage databases which has historically focused on ERP. To us, this means
that your database can be customised easily, and that the interface will
follow the new structure. That is, you can create new fields for any type
of information which you have in your database. Besides, it comes with
almost anything that we needed in terms of handling the information of
suppliers, customers and products. You can choose what you need from the
basic modules (a lot of them) specifically for your needs, plus there is a
big number of groups working on new modules which may be also incorporated
(freely as in freedom). We know that this is the beginning of our success.
