Dear All,
We want to issue various items from our warehouse to our
Pathology Lab.
These items will be consumed while performing laboratory tests
for patients.
We are planning to use 'Internal Shipment' module for issuing stock
items. What should be the type of location which should be used
as 'To
Location' for this internal shipment?
Currently, locations of only two types can appear in 'To Location':
1. Storage
2. Lost and Found
Both of these location types seem unsuitable for such internal
shipment.
I think a location of type 'Customer' will fit in this scenario. Our
finance department will finally record the cost of these items as
expense of Pathology department.
For me this locations are the ones required. You just have to create
a Pathology Lab location of type storage in order to know the
inventory of the lab.
Every time you send items from your warehouse you should create an
internal shipment from the warehouse location (or where you storage
the item) to the Pathology Lab location.
The idea is good but only that small amount of inventory is issued to
Pathology department which they will consume straight away and we don't
want to track the inventory of the lab.
So if this is consumed directly you should sent directly to the lost and
found location :)
In order to consume the stock, you should create a internal shipment
from the Pathology Lab to the Lost and found location A new lost and
found location can be used if you want to track the items consumed
only on labs.
Technically, is it logical to destine an in inventory item to 'Lost and
found' location which is actually 'Consumed'?
Indeed, you should create a 'Consumed on Labs' location of type 'Lost
and Found' and then you can use the product by locations view to see the
consumed products up to a date.
Note that you can also create the consumed moves by using an inventory.
Can it be done after making and internal shipment from 'warehouse' to
'pathology' department in order to record consumption?
Yes, you can use it to record consumption because the target location is
always of type 'Lost and Found'. The important fact is that the location
of the inventory must be where the products are stored before consumption.
