I also have this problem the router/firewall doing nat cannot translate its own public address to the private one when accessing from inside.
that's true .. I found the only really working solution is to use an external proxy server, so your connection whould be from an external ip..
I think you can even install a proxy on the same machine on the public ip and filtering access so it cannot be abused from the internet .. give try .. maybe it works ...

I know, but that means maintaining all domains in my own DNS. I'm sure many people have this problem, so maybe there is somebody out there with a simple solution, but thanks anyway.
