If I edit a file from a RedHat8 with vim and read him from trustix I have the same problem that with htmldoc: i don't see the latin charset but dirty characters.
If I edit a file from Trustix from my RH8 system I can see all the charachters.
I think are a problem of encoding, but I don't have experience about.
Is a problem only of configuration? or I must install other packages?

now I've got two issues :)
in console nor in vi I'm not able to write 'a+~' wich is a must in portuguese language :(

the other issue is related to cone mail so isn't a trustix problem...
but if anyone of the list is using cone maybe he got the same problem,
1. UTF8 isnt working at all, you get only garbage caracters
2. to have � � etc. caracters I had to add this to cone launch script:
...
LANG='pt_BR'
CHARSET='iso-8859-1'
...
unset CHARSET LANG
any sugestion or comment appreciated..

HAve you enabled the needed locales? Not sure if that is the thing, but that's what springs to mind.
'vi /etc/locales.conf' for more information.
