For what I know it do hardware raid (see IBM xSeries 236 specifications)
I have played around and think that the problem is that it is a dual 
controller. It have an "SCSI-A" channel and a "SCSI-B" channel.
The backplane is connected to "SCSI-B". I think that the installation 
program find only the first ("SCSI-A").
Probably I need to pass some parameter to the kernel to recognize the 
"SCSI-A" and the attached drives.
I can't switch the connector (short cable) nor change the IRQ, address :-(
