I have very good experience with hotswap disks in a proper hotswap disk
enclosure connected to a proper hardware SCSI-RAID controller. You'll of
course need to use a RAID level with some degree of redundancy to be able to
hotswap disks in any useful fashion. RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 1+0 are the
most interesting ones.

For software RAID, levels 1 and 5 are supported. You can probably do 1+0,
but I never tried.

For hardware RAID controllers that are supported by TSL, the controller
decides what RAID levels it supports.
