What is the difference between thosw two? Can we get it working by just
adding a few PCI IDs for instance?

Have no idea, but the module is available from:
ftp://download.intel.com/design/motherbd/linux/LAN_Marvell_Linux_7.14.2.3_BETA.tar.bz2
Maybe you can look in to it? (I'm not a real module guru as you may have
noticed)
