Hey TSL group,
Using TSL 2.2 I'm experiencing some weird "pauses" with Apache. What basically happens is that when I try to connect to my website, sometimes I get a pause before Apache reacts. This lasts for a good 10 seconds. Then suddenly the page is served and after that things are smooth sailing. The really weird thing is that the server is doing NOTHING. 0% CPU usage, no swapping, lots of RAM available. It just sits there. No activity, yet Apache refuses to do its job.
There's no pattern as to when this happens. It comes and goes. I've looked at the logs to see if they could shed some light on the matter, but apparently there's nothing wrong.
All content served is PHP/MySQL, so I guess those two could also be the culprits.
No more than approx 200 mb traffic goes through the server each day, so it's not very busy. Also it sits on a 100 mbit dedicated line, so the problem is not due to the connection being saturated - also the same thing can happen when accessing the site from LAN, eliminating the Router as the source of the problem.
I've done nothing to tweak Apache. I've swup'ed it, changed a few settings in the conf and that's that.
I know there's not a whole lot to go on here, but it's my hope that someone out there might have experienced a similar thing, and have been able to "fix" it.
Sincerely, Thomas
