small note: The --configure-option option of swup will not be
implemented to do what you seem to thing it will do. The option is meant
to let the user give arbitrary swup.conf options on the command line of
swup, specially interesting if swup is run without a config file, or you
want to override a config option in the current swup.conf file.

So it has nothing to do with building stuff from source, and swup will
probably never support such an option because rpm packages works
differently and does not have a common way of using configure.
