Hello,

as much waited TSL 3.0 has arrived, coincidently same time with my
server upgrade, I have few questions.

My server, which works as a light "community server" doubling with my
media-server, uses Pentium M (1.6 Ghz Dothan). Excellent processor
so far.

Now after I've read tons of documentation and installation reports, I am
little confused. Most people say I should use different optimization for
kernel with Pentium M than normal distros supply. i686 is not correct.
However, as I've checked TSL, it is optimized for i586.

Now do I still need to compile my own version of kernel? And if yes,
with what flags? I assume power issues are fine with kernel already?
Hdparm, CPUfreq, etc should work? Or is compiling worth the trouble at
all?

Good summary of power optimizing in linux:
