We're having a problem with new Dell 750 1 RU servers with SATA hard drives. The system will boot, but the hard drive is not found. This appears to also affect other 2.6 based distros. Amusingly, Debian will install, because it boots a 2.4 kernel from the CD, but won't boot. When it tries to mount the hard drive the kernel panics.
Is anyone else using a 2.6 kernel on a Dell 1RU model 750 server with SATA hard drives? If so, what (if anything) did you have to do in order to make the SATA drive work?
