Hello readers,

I've been fighting with my rsync-based data replication scripts
randomly failing with 'unexpected tag 3 [sender]'.
This seems to be due to a yet unfixed bug in rsync 2.6.8
(unfixed in released versions) that the TSL 2.2 RPM is built on.
See:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2006-May/015361.html
The CVS version of rsync fixes this:
http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/nightly/
It seems that
most major Linux distributions provide versions
of 2.6.8 with that patch rolled in.
Unfortunately TSL does not (neither in 3.0 nor in 2.2).
I'd file a bug in Bugzilla, but it seems pretty much
dead these days... so I'd just post here, in case someone
gets bitten by the same bug.
Greets,
_Alain_
