Package description:
bind
BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain) is an implementation of the DNS
(Domain Name System) protocols. BIND includes a DNS server (named),
which resolves host names to IP addresses, and a resolver library
(routines for applications to use when interfacing with DNS). A DNS
server allows clients to name resources or objects and share the
information with other network machines. The named DNS server can be
used on workstations as a caching name server, but is generally only
needed on one machine for an entire network.
glibc
The glibc package contains standard libraries which are used by
multiple programs on the system. In order to save disk space and
memory, as well as to make upgrading easier, common system code is
kept in one place and shared between programs. This particular package
contains the most important sets of shared libraries: the standard C
library and the standard math library. Without these two libraries,
a Linux system will not function. The glibc package also contains
national language (locale) support and timezone databases.
tzdata
This package contains data files with rules for various timezones
around the world.
Problem description:
bind < TSL 3.0 > < TSL 2.2 >
- Optimize at -O1 instead of -O2, Fixed Bug #2086.
glibc < TSL 3.0 >
- Moved zoneinfo to tzdata package, Bug #2044.
tzdata < TSL 3.0 >
- Initial release.
Action:
We recommend that all systems with this package installed be upgraded.
Please note that if you do not need the functionality provided by this
package, you may want to remove it from your system.
