Sorry for the out-of-the-blue post, everyone. I'm a Truman alum (98),
and have been lurking here for some time now. I think it's great that
you have such an active LUG on campus now. Anyway, here's why I'm
posting:

I have had a great job with a public school district since I graduated,
and have had a lot of creative freedom to setup a new web application
environment. However, I'm changing jobs at the end of March, and the
district has asked me to help find a replacement. Which is great,
because I have an obvious interest in seeing that the work I've started
here continues. So, if any of you are graduating in May and are
interested in a Linux/Java opportunity in the KC area (or know anyone
who is), give this one some thought.

Liberty Public Schools has an immediate opening for a Linux system
administrator with Java programming skills. This person will maintain
existing J2EE servlet and JSP applications, develop new applications,
and convert other exiting applications to J2EE. They will also
administrate our web server and related database systems. Candidates
should be comfortable in a mixed-platform environment (NT/Linux/MacOS).
Salary will be between $40k-47k. The district can provide some training,

but ideal candidates would have experience in these areas:

    - UNIX / Linux system administration (RedHat)
    - Apache server administration, including Apache JServ
    - Server-side Java (J2EE) programming, specifically JDBC, Servlets,
        JSPs and Beans
    - UNIX-hosted RDBMS administration, specifically PostgreSQL
    - ANSI SQL92
    - Relational database design
    - ODBC client/server architecture
    - Samba server administration
    - AppleShare IP server administration, including FileMaker Pro and
        BlueWorld Lasso

Interested? You must be available to start by the end of March. Send
your resume and cover letter to Trey Katzer,
[EMAIL PROTECTED] E-mail submissions only, please.

I'll be glad to answer any questions (off-list) about the job, etc., but
resumes should go to the address above. Thanks, and enjoy the weather up
there!
