Thanks, I got it working.

In case anyone else attempts this:
-Yep, XFS support needs to be compiled into your kernel
-As of this writing, 1.0.2 is the current release of XFS Linux and it
supports only up to 2.4.14 (x86 and IA64).
-Alpha, Sparc64, and PPC users take heart; their FAQ says it mostly
works ("trivial compile time fixes" are the only problems). Testing is
sporadic :-(.
-You can grab the latest XFS for the 2.4 kernel series from their CVS
tree. 2.4.18 is supported there.
-See the URI referenced below for details.
-Don't forget to make configure/make/make install the XFS tools if you
do CVS (they're in the cmd dir).

You can find some info on patching the kernel for XFS at:

http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/

I don't know if they have a patch for 2.4.18 yet, but that would be the
place to find out. Hope this helps.

Subject: [tslug] New kernel and XFS?
Date: Thu, 7 Mar 2002 16:51:59 -0600

I've recently reinstalled Linux Mandrake on my linux machine. Since the
simplistic permissions model (rwx) available with ext2 and ReiserFS has
always bothered me, I decided to use XFS for my /home/ partition. I'm
still using Reiser for all my other partitions (except swap).

Q: I now wish to upgrade my kernel from 2.4.8 to 2.4.18. What do I need
to do to be sure XFS will still work when I reboot?
