I have been using one called Knoppix, available at:

if anyone is interested.  It runs KDE or GNOME, and has a bunch of 
programs, including
openoffice, and The Gimp.  I have had huge success with this on quite a 
range of systems, 
it automatically found most of the hardware and set it up properly.  
The iso's are mostly in Germany, but I have one if you would like to
