I have been using one called Knoppix, available at: http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html
if anyone is interested. It runs KDE or GNOME, and has a bunch of programs, including openoffice, and The Gimp. I have had huge success with this on quite a range of systems, it automatically found most of the hardware and set it up properly. The iso's are mostly in Germany, but I have one if you would like to check it out, e-mail me. To see a list of packages in Knoppix, go to: http://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/knoppix/packages.txt ------------------ Caleb Jorden TSLUG Treasurer [EMAIL PROTECTED] brandon wrote: > >I remembered reading about some of these this summer, but I couldn't >remember where I'd seen any of them at the meeting so I looked them up >again a few minutes ago. >One is called Virtual Linux and is at http://www.virtual-linux.org. >It is based on Mandrake modified to run from >a cd-rom drive on machines with or with out hard dirves.
