Well, both my x86 boxen use nvidia cards, though they are older ones (GeForce2
MX 400 and GeForce2 GO). I have had a few minor issues with the stability of
the drivers, but that seems to have gotten better with the most recent
release. The downside to the nvidia cards is that the drivers are closed
source, and part of it is kernel side, and because of that you can't get
framebuffer support while using the nvidia drivers. Also, for what its worth,
ATI recently released a full fledged 3D accelerated set of drivers for their
cards on Linux. No clue what they are like, though.
