Starting tomorrow, I'll have a wireless network access PCMCIA card to play with for a couple of days in my Gateway laptop running RedHat 7.3. It's an Orinoco card (I think I remember correctly).
The specific goal is to talk to a Mac OS-X box laptop built-in wireless networking. Just the two laptops talking together, not connected to the outside world or to an access point. I've been told this can be done. Anyone have any pointers on how to do it? I have sucked down Jean Tourrilhes' Wireless HOWTO and am reading through it, butg I won't have a chance to use the card before I'm out of contact with the Internet. Thus the request for advice. The backup plan if the wireless cards won't talk is to patch the Ethernet ports together directly, without using a hub. I've been told this can also be done. Again, any pointers? TIA for any advice. -- Jon Beck, PhD mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Assoc Professor, Computer Science 2162 Violette Hall Truman State University 660-785-7233 Kirksville, MO 63501 http://vh216202.truman.edu/ ----------------------------------------------------------------- To get off this list, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with Subject: unsubscribe -----------------------------------------------------------------
