While in school, instead of waiting for days to get my programs punched on cards, and then days for my program to get run and get my printout back, I wrote, compiled and testing my COBOL programs on my TRS-80 Model 1 Computer (2 80KB floppy drives, 48KB memory, no hard disk). Now I am showing my age.
So, Microsoft, even before Linux came to be, had a Unix system of their own. Hmmm. Something to think about.

Showed your age? Hardly. Here in my department at Boeing, I'm LITERALLY the only programmer who has never written a line of COBOL. It just won't die.

That is a old and funny joke. I have seen similar cartoons with code in BASIC, COBOL and even FORTRAN. Still, I laugh everytime. (I guess Ijust
gave my age).
