Dear All,

Before you tackle a spicific problem to your personal computer, read 
these general tricks and tips on troubleshooting and keep them in 
mind as you work on deciphering your system problem:

Take the right approach: How are approach the problem can be more 
important than what you do to diagnose it. Remain calm and take your 
time. Keep an open mind and explore all possible causes for the 
problem. If you find yourself getting tired or frustrated, take a 
break and try again later. Finally don't be stubborn about seeking 
help if you need it.

Use documintation: Whether it is in print or online, product manuals 
and other documentation about your HD can make troublshooting much 
easier.

Look for patterns: Find the root cause of teh problem you are 
experincing by collecting evidence and looking for patterns.

Suspect that which have changed: All else being equal, whatever you 
have most recently changed on your PC-whether it is HD or SW-is 
properly the reason for any trouble with the system. Note that 
sometimes the effect of this change may be surprisingly indicirect.

Keep things simply: If you are having problems with a system in 
general way, simplify the dilemma(serious problem). Remove 
nonessintial peripherals from the system and then disable or unistall 
utilities and system SW you don't absolutely need.

Try Swapping: To determine if a suspected PC component is bad, swap 
it with another or use it with a different computer. this will tell 
you if the components has a fault or if it is someting else within 
the system
