I am just a user of tup like you, so I don't have any access to change the tup 
man page. Besides, I don't see what you would like changed in the man page. I 
think it is pretty clear: the string is "passed to the system(3) call" and as 
such, is simply interpreted by the shell. Tup does no other processing on it.
