The group functionality, which hasn't been formally tested, should allow you
to keep a list of all the items in a group.  If you allow the system group
id cache to be unlimited, or almost unlimited, then they will always be
available.

The group cache maintains a list of all the elements in the group.  The list
is not passed around except when the group is created, but it is maintained
independently.  It still needs some work.  It was originally designed for
session replication and should provide all the functionality of the servlet
session api.
