Where are releases kept (and why the .dependency.info in the jar)

Where do you guys hide the releases?  I want to get a later release than 
1.0-dev pushed out to ibiblio for maven users.

I can do a build myself, but I'd rather use an official release



Also,

Is there any reason for all the dependency info in the release (1.0-dev)
jars (that are on ibiblio)?
It's chewing up 150K compressed (which is 10 seconds upload time every
time I deploy my war :) )
(I had a look on the mailing archives but couldn't find anything)
