I briefly looked for any JavaCC grammar files in their source tree and it doesn't appear that they have any JavaDoc processing in their grammar whatsoever, so perhaps they are processing the JavaDoc with some other mechanism. In any case, using our own JavaCC grammar is more fun anyways. :-)
