Though, as a user I wouldn't like to have to type "maven clean:clean" to delete the target dir ... "rm -rf target" is shorter. I'm in favour of short names for goals that people will invoke ten of times every day and even more. If we have a gui, then put whatever name you like, as long as I have a button that says "compile".
