Correct, I saw the same thing on the scarab list, you have to do SELECT 1
FROM DUAL.  Look for the posts with the subject "Scarab Problem with Oracle"
on the scarab dev issue.  They came out around 9/5 - 9/6.

Scarab now lets you set what the validation query is so you can override it
for Oracle.

I can't remember exactly, but I think there are some posts in the
archive that say for Oracle this SELECT 1 statement needs to be
something else (though perhaps it is a different DB, like DB2, I'm not
sure).
