The following modifications were made to this issue:
Are there any plans for converting database.dtd into database.xsd ?
This would prevent such errors at creation time, since the user would be
able to fully validate his schema.xml file...
Anyway, I've made a small change in doFinalInitialization() of Database.java that first
displays the error and then lets the NPE be thrown...
