I have been developing with torque against postgre
7.2.1 & Mysql Max 3.23 for the past couple of months.
Both of them have been working fairly well. Ran
preliminary stress test using Microsoft Web
Application Stress Tool - stressing the
Tomcat based web application accessing the DBs
and found that postgreSql was able to server 25% more
pages for my kind of application.
Before I proceed to the next phase of development I
would like to finalize on the database to use on the
basis of:
1) Entire installation will be on Windows
Licensing issues (cygwin reqmt for
postgre...)
2) Performance
3) Stability
4) Store 40MB of Blobs - inline/offline BFILE kind
of support
5) Transaction suport
6) Subselect/Inner joins NOT a criteria
7) Failover/Replication support
8) Cheap(licensing/support/ease of administration)
Probably, I am asking too much off a free database :)
Found few articles but they do not cover the whole
gamut that I am looking for and seem to be old:

http://www.webtechniques.com/archives/2001/09/jepson/
http://acidlab.sourceforge.net/perf/acid_perf.html
Appreciate any pointers or other forums I should be
posting my questions.
thanks,
naveen
