I got it to work yesterday.

The plugin's build-torque.xml defaults to using the the
torque-3.0-rc2-dev.jar, so if you're using a different version, you can
set torque.jar to, say, torque-3.0-b4.jar.

I've been meaning to get the Howto updated; I'll try to get it done by
the end of today, depending how though things go. Actually, it shouldn't
take too long, as this new maven plugin stuff is awful nice to use.
