For my problem of not being able to run the example application I got the hint to change the JVM. But I did try that before: I just VM 3309 and VM 3802, whcih is the newest one. I can't get it running with both. Did anybody ever run it on NT 4.0? Giving me that environment description (versions of any related software) would maybe help?! here the problem description again: Environment: WinNT 4.0 SP5 Build 1381 JDK 1.2.1 JVM 3309 TDK 2.1 b2 Calling (from the TDK home dir) either bin/startup or bin/catalina run or start results in an JIT error: A nonfatal internal JIT (3.00.078(x)) error 'Relocation error: NULL > relocation target' has occurred in : > 'org/apache/crimson/parser/Parser2.maybeComment (Z)Z': Interpreting > method. > Please report this error in detail to > http://java.sun.com/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi > > Starting service Tomcat-Standalone > Apache Tomcat/4.0-b5-dev On the SUN Bug Page I found a workaround to set JAVA_COMPILER to NONE That results only in the JIT message not appearing anymore BUT still Dr.Watson comes up with an application error in JAVA.EXE
