Thanks for the responses. I guess that in turbine we are shielded from the
driver particulars since many of the more recent jdbc services are allready
handled by turbine code. Such as pooling etc. While searching the web for
different db options I came accross promising looking Open Source rdbm
called SAPDB. Thought I'd share the link

Note: the TWZ driver sucks. MM's is better, but still sucks.
If you read his site carefully, you will see:
