We are currently just using the roles and permissions. Everyone on our
intranet is in the global group. Then we have different roles such as
staff, intern, turbine_root, etc. Each one has different permissions
that allow them to access different parts of our intranet.
One thing we are thinking about doing in the future is utilizing the
groups concept more. We have a job database with about 4-500 jobs in
it. It would be great to have a group for each job that the company
works on. Then people can serve different roles in different jobs.
One problem that we have run in to doing this is the large amount of
groups we must have. Having 500 groups with the corresponding roles and
permissions takes FOREVER to load from the database when the user logs
in. Which is why we haven't implemented it yet. We could write a fix
to that, but it hasn't made it high enough on the TODO list. :)
