I'v tested this against Tomcat 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 both 'lite' and normal edition with the same result, ie problems with SDK 1.4.0). I could not found any related bug in Sun's Bug Database and then started to searching in tomcat's bug database and I found the same bug entry you are referring to and although they mention that it has been solved with the 'new' HTTP/1.1 connector (which is by default used in tomcat in stand-alone mode) the bug is still there.
