Well, I think this is the new version, to use with jdk1.4. The Turbine Howto
pointed directly to this file.
Anyway I tried with the classes12.jar and jdk1.3, but the output is the
same, so I don't think this is the reason.

Yes, the tables were created during the build process. I have now a schema
turbine_app with all the table. I have the impression that torque doesn't
try to access these tables, but I can't find more details...
